Suzuki Music Education

Dear Suzuki Music Parents and Participants,

The Alexandra Centre Society, like all organizations, is actively monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, in order to make informed decisions with respect to our activities, including our programs and classes.  Our responses are guided by the best current information available, as well as a commitment to protecting individual and public health.

At this time, we are following the guidance of the health experts at the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.  It is important to remember that, according to medical experts, we can all do our part in keeping each other safe.  It is important to remain vigilant and do everything possible to minimize potential spread.  The Alexandra Centre Society will be practicing social distancing measures to help ensure the safety of all who access the Centre.  This means that the scheduled SUZUKI MUSIC CLASSES for Friday, March 20, 2020 ARE CANCELLED. We had no class scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2020.  CLASSES SCHEDULED FOR Friday, April 3, 2020, and going forward will be offered ONLINE.  We will follow-up with everyone as soon as possible regarding online participation. For the time being the Alexandra Centre Society staff will also be working from home.

An e-mail has been sent out to all participants that registered for the 2020 Spring camp.  We can issue a refund to those participants that would prefer a refund.  We would also be grateful to anyone wishing to waive their refund, and put it towards a donation to the Alexandra Centre Society. Please respond with you preference to transfer to online classes, requesting a refund, or if you would prefer to make a donation.

Should anything change because of the COVID-19 situation, we will ensure our website is updated.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact our office via e-mail at .  Any voice messages left on our answering machine at 403-269-5588 will be returned as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding in making adjustments through this difficult time.  We appreciate you being a part of our community and hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

"Musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed.  Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue.  The potential of every child is unlimited." -Dr. Shinichi Suzuki

The Suzuki worldwide music education movement was founded by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.  The Suzuki Method recognizes every child's unlimited potential.  Listening, modelling, repetition, and the role of parents as teachers are key elements of the program.

In the Suzuki program infants, toddlers, and their parents participate in music based activities to encourage joyful learning.  Traditional songs and rhymes, rhythmic activities, and movement are the foundation of the program.  Suzuki groups are designed to motivate even infants to respond to others.  Parents form a supportive network, and children develop an early appreciation for music.

Our music specialists facilitate young children and their parents through an hour of singing, playing rhythms, reciting verses, movement, and stories.  Children from infants to 36 months, accompanied by an adult, thoroughly enjoy this program while receiving a good base for the next chapter in their musical lives.

BRIDGE CLASS for 3-5 year olds!

Our Suzuki teachers are excited to offer a parented music class for your preschooler!  This fun engaging class will build on focus, internalizing rhythms + beats, and movement.  Safe environment for parents & child.  No musical experience is required.
