Winter Festival

The Alexandra Centre Society, East Village Neighborhood Association, Kinkonauts Improv Theatre, Calgary Reads, Karen Scarlett, Inglewood Child Development Centre, and JazzYYC groups are excited to host a Winter Carnival Event!

Join us for a one-day winter carnival event on Saturday March 12, 2022 from 10am – 5pm.

The event will include an outdoor scavenger hunt, food trucks, art activities, entertainment, special performances, and live music.  As part of the event, participants will be encouraged to contribute to a permanent musical fence installation. Activities will be hosted outdoors on the Alexandra Centre premise (922 9 Avenue SE), Jack Long Park, Calgary Read’s Little Red Reading House, and on the east lawn at Fort Calgary.

We invite everyone to come to this FREE event!

Winter Carnival attendees that participate in the free outdoor scavenger hunt will be entered into a draw to win prizes including a family membership to the National Music Centre, a gift card to the Deane House, Calgary Hitmen Tickets, book prizes from Calgary Reads and a set of free classes at the Alexandra Centre Society. All attendees will also be eligible for discounted admission to Fort Calgary. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Red Yarn Heart Wall

Come share some love on our Red Yarn Heart wall we will be creating on March 12!

The Red Yarn Display is part of the Social Isolation Awareness Campaign promoted by the City of Calgary. The Seniors Social Isolation campaign was created to promote awareness and support for older adults. Older adults are at a higher risk for social isolation due to changes in health, life circumstance (e.g. loss of a spouse) and even more so during the on-going pandemic. Please visit  Age-Friendly Calgary strategy for more information.  #stayconnectedyyc

A big THANKS to Parks Foundation Calgary and the City of Calgary for providing funding through the Warm Up To Winter grant, to make this event possible!
